'except that p, q', 'q, only that p': p either stands in the way of q, or p and q serve as arguments supporting opposite conclusions; Restriction differs from Exception in that the former can only be used for affirmative matrix clauses; Exception and Restriction may blend with Condition, Contrast, or Concession (e.g. You can have Dad's car, except that it's very low on petrol; She's a great help in the kitchen, only she can't keep her mouth shut.)
