From Contribution: Adverbial subordinators in European languages
'without p, q' [German 'ohne dass p, q']: p does not accompany q (more often than not this runs counter to expectation, or is simply regarded as remarkable); in contrast to Negative Condition and Negative Purpose, the negation has wide scope, i.e. scope over Concomitance (e.g. He just pushes on with these things, without taking any advice. [German Er ging an mir vorbei, ohne dass er mich grüßte. 'He went past me without greeting me'])
