'where p, q', 'whence p, q', 'whither p, q', 'wherever p, q': p identifies a location or direction (definite or indefinite) (e.g. Where the fire had been, we saw only black ruins; They returned to the country (from) whence they came; They returned from the country whither they had emigrated; I'll go wherever you go.)
